Refund Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective 2026-04-25 · Refund contact: ron@taverns.red

This Refund Policy describes when and how you can get your money back for a Red Taverns subscription. It applies to all Red Taverns products purchased via our checkout (currently Red Vote; other products as they go commercial). It is incorporated into our Terms of Service by reference.

1. Summary

WindowRefund
Within 30 days of initial purchaseFull refund, no questions asked.
After 30 days, before next renewalNo refund, but access continues until the end of your paid period. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time.
Within 14 days of an auto-renewal chargeFull refund of the renewal charge. Access ends with the refund.

2. Initial-purchase refunds (30-day window)

If you've just bought a Red Vote subscription and decide it's not for you, you can request a full refund within 30 days of the original purchase date. No questions asked, no documentation required.

To request a refund:

  • Use the customer-portal link in your Paddle receipt, or
  • Email ron@taverns.red with your order ID. Refund confirmation typically follows within one business day.

3. Renewal refunds (14-day window)

If you forgot to cancel and were auto-renewed, you can request a full refund of the renewal charge within 14 days of the renewal date. We send a renewal notice 30 days in advance, so this window covers the case where the notice was missed.

Renewal refunds end your access immediately upon the refund being processed.

4. Cancellation without refund

You may cancel your subscription at any time. If you cancel outside the 30-day initial-purchase window or the 14-day renewal window:

  • You will not receive a partial refund for unused time.
  • Your access continues until the end of the paid 365-day period.
  • Auto-renewal is turned off; you will not be charged again unless you re-subscribe.

This "cancel anytime, keep your access" model is intentional — it removes prorate-math edge cases and keeps the offer simple.

5. How refunds are processed

All refunds are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, our authorized Merchant of Record:

  • Refunds go to the original payment method (credit card, PayPal, etc.).
  • Tax that was charged at checkout is refunded along with the principal — Paddle handles the adjustment with the relevant tax authority.
  • Processing typically takes 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or payment provider. Paddle issues an immediate confirmation email.

6. Founding-customer status & refunds

If you enrolled as a founding customer (via FOUNDING15 + FOUNDING5) and request a refund:

  • Initial-purchase refund: the founding-customer status is reversed along with the refund. If you decide to subscribe again later, you will be billed at the standard rate.
  • Renewal refund: same — the founding 5% renewal discount lapses with the refund. Resubscribing is at standard rates.

7. Special cases

7.1 Service unavailable on the day of your event

If a critical Red Vote outage prevents you from running a scheduled district vote, contact us directly. We will work with you on a goodwill remedy (extended subscription, refund, or other) appropriate to the impact. This is handled case-by-case and is not a contractual SLA.

7.2 Chargebacks & disputes

If you initiate a chargeback through your card issuer instead of requesting a refund directly, your account will be suspended pending resolution. We strongly prefer to resolve disputes by email — it's faster and cheaper for everyone.

7.3 Multiple-year prepayment

We do not offer multi-year prepayment in v1. All subscriptions are 365 days. If you have a special situation requiring a multi-year arrangement, contact us before purchasing.

Our policy is intentionally generous and intentionally simple. If you're not happy with the service in the first 30 days, you get your money back. After that, you keep your access until the term ends. We don't try to claw back unused time, and we don't make refunds adversarial.
